Dear Members – it’s been some time since my last blog, and my apologies for this,
sometimes there are not enough hours in the day!
I wanted to communicate to you all that on the 25th June I had an audience with H.E.
Osama bin Saleh AlAawi along with Under Secretary Mr Ziad Adel Darwish of the
Ministry of Social Development. As you may be aware the British Club falls under the
jurisdiction of the Ministry of Social Development as a NGO (Non-Government
Organisation)
The meeting took place at the offices of H.E. and I attended the meeting with the
Executive Positions of the Executive Committee; myself as Chairman, Tariq Salman
Executive Secretary, Simon Thomson Treasurer and Mr Abdulrahman Abulfath in his
capacity as the Liaison to the Ministry.
The meeting was introductory and very positive, H.E. was very proactive and keen to
understand how his office can help the British Club and what support we would
require. I gave H.E. the position of the Club now, what my aspirations for the club are
and what we want for the Club going forward. I told him about the recent renovation
of the Belgrave Bar and the children’s playground area.
I felt that the meeting was extremely positive and that we have support with what we
are trying to do with keeping the Club moving in the direction of an upward trajectory.
We ended our meeting by presenting our 90th Anniversary commemorative pin.
Hope you all have a good summer and hope to see you all in the Club.
Thanks
Mark
